A darker, cooler maroon than the others, with crisp white medallions and several black bands broken up by rows of white diamonds. Printed on mul cotton — the light, open-weave cotton that makes a dupatta drape instead of sit.

• Size: 2.5 m × 42 in — long and wide enough to drape properly, not a token stole
• Fabric: Mul cotton — light, soft, breathable
• Print: Ajrakh, in the traditional madder-and-indigo palette
• Finish: Maroon tassels. The black banding is the tell — the wine version has none.

Wear it with: cream, black or white. The black bands mean it sits happily with a black kurta, which most maroons don't.

Care: First wash separately in cold water — deep-dyed cotton releases a little colour at first. Mild detergent, no brushing, no wringing. Line-dry in shade. Iron on medium; keep the iron off the tassels.
