A black Bandhani top piece — hand tie-dyed the traditional way, thousands of tiny points knotted off before dyeing so each dot is left undyed, here in white and warm ochre against deep black. The cloth has a smooth, lightly lustrous face. It's paired with a crimson ajrakh block-print dupatta covered in medallions and paisleys, finished with black tassels.

Note on Bandhani: the dots are tied by hand, so their spacing and size vary across the cloth — that irregularity is how you tell real Bandhani from a printed imitation. When it arrives the fabric will still be crinkled from being knotted; that's normal. Open it out gently and it relaxes.

Care: Gentle hand wash in cold water, separately for the first wash — black and crimson both release colour. Mild detergent, never brush or wring. Line-dry in shade. Roll-press rather than hard-ironing so the Bandhani crinkle isn't flattened out of it.
